Lawn Boy's, Inc. 5-step
lawn program was developed for lawns in the Michigan
area. Not all lawns are created equal, so
we carry different formulations of fertilizer and adjust the materials
and their rates as we go. Dry granular fertilizer with slow release
nitrogen for proper root development is complemented by liquid weed
control applications to maintain texture and color.
Your program includes
controls for pests that can damage your lawn. This includes broadleaf
weed controls, crab grass and surface insect control. All these
treatments are applied safely and correctly by a licensed professional.
We combine
the newest technology with the personal service for lawn care that
sets the standard for the rest of the industry.
Lawn Boys, Inc. is a name
and a neighbor you know and can trust.
Treatment 1 (Mar-Apr)
A granular fertilizer is applied to the lawn to help bring the
lawn out of winter dormancy, along with a pre-emergent crabgrass
control
to prevent crabgrass and
some annual weeds. A broadleaf weed control will be applied if weather permits.
Treatment 2 (May-June)
A slow release fertilizer is applied to keep the lawn growing throughout
the summer months. Broadleaf weed control will be applied as needed. Grub
proofing
treatment will be applied at this time if ordered.
Treatment 3 (June-July)
A slow release granular fertilizer will be applied that will help the lawn
stay as healthy as possible during the hot summer months and come out of
summer dormancy
faster once cooler weather returns. An insect control will be applied as
needed.
Treatment 4 (Aug-Sept)
A granular fertilizer is applied to keep the lawn growing throughout the
late summer season. Broadleaf weed control is also applied as needed.
Treatment 5 (Oct-Nov)
A granular fertilizer high in phosphorus and potassium is applied. This will
promote root growth and new plant growth as well as early spring green up.
Grub Proofing
This treatment is a blanket preventive control called Merit. This material
must be applied in the months of May-June. The material is absorbed through
the plants root system and becomes part of the plant itself. This process takes
several months to take place, once the grubs come in the fall the plants are
protected from damage. This treatment is an additional charge from the regular 5-step
program.
Core Aeration(Spring-Fall)
A mechanical aerator will go over your lawn pulling thousands of soil cores
and spreading them on the surface. Aeration will
allow water, air and fertilizer to reach the grass roots and soil level.
It will also reduce thatch build up and keep the soil from compacting. This
treatment is an additional charge from the regular 5-step
program.
Over Seeding (Fall)
This is done with core aeration. A custom seed blend is applied to the lawn
after aeration. The seeds fall into the thousands of holes creating a good
seed-soil contact. This is only done in fall. This treatment is an additional
charge from the regular 5-step program.
2nd Crabgrass Control
This 2nd treatment is a post control product, and will knock down any crabgrass
plants that make it through the barrier. This product is very expensive and
selective (only controls crabgrass) so there is an additional charge from
the regular 5-step program.
Preventive Fungicide
Diseases have plagued some lawns in the past few years. In most cases red thread
has been the worst. If your lawn has been struggling with disease problems
a preventive control maybe in order.
